About Me

My love of art started from a very early age when I use to sketch my favourite film stars and singers out of Jackie and Blue Jeans magazines (remember those!). However, it wasn’t until I took A-level Art and studied the works of John Constable that I really began to express myself and become interested in painting landscapes. His work depicting the Suffolk landscape of long ago appealed to my Suffolk upbringing and family connections with farming. You could say I’m a ‘Suffolk Gal’ through and through and this association with the Suffolk countryside is forever present in my paintings.
After a spell of 8 years living in the city of Lincoln I returned to Suffolk married (Evans). I feel very privileged to live close to Woodbridge; where I have the coast on one side, the forest on the other, and in-between rolling fields and meandering rivers; Suffolk is truly an inspiring place!

As well as painting landscapes my other love is painting animals. Since 1995 I’ve been painting pet portraits. I find it heart-warming to paint the portraits of pets that have passed away, as well as the new arrivals, or those that had been given their forever home. Being an owner of two dogs that bond between human and animal is something very special.
Influences in my art were gained from studying History and Textiles at A-level and spending time working in the retail sector. I have always enjoyed looking at fashion through the ages and watching period dramas and this has led to a quirky take on pet portrait commissions where works have included Top Hats, Smoking Jackets, 1930s Fedora Hat and a 1950s Twin Set and Pearls (to name but a few!) Each portrait is researched to create an original piece of art work with that vintage feel. To view more examples please go to the Commissions page.
